Working within this specialized team means collaborating with multidisciplinary experts who tackle complex classified, defense, and civilian agency challenges. You won't just be drafting cables or reviewing pathways; you will be architecting resilient communication backbones that enable federal agencies to execute their critical missions without interruption.

Key Responsibilities

As a Federal Telecommunications Engineer (RCDD), you will take ownership of advanced Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and telecommunications design deliverables. Your day-to-day responsibilities will span technical leadership, design execution, quality control, and project management:

  • Telecom Design Leadership: Lead comprehensive telecom design efforts and coordinate seamlessly with multidisciplinary architectural and engineering teams.
  • Conceptual & Detailed Design: Develop conceptual and detailed ICT/telecom designs, including precise drawings, technical specifications, and engineering analyses.
  • BIM/CAD Coordination: Collaborate closely with BIM and CAD production teams to ensure drawing accuracy, standard compliance, and efficient production workflows.
  • Quality Control & Technical Checks: Perform rigorous quality control reviews and independent technical checks to guarantee design integrity before deployment.
  • Project & Resource Management: Manage project budgets, scopes, and schedules effectively while mentoring junior staff members to elevate team capabilities.
  • Field Assessments & Reporting: Conduct comprehensive on-site field assessments and prepare detailed engineering reports.
  • Standards & Development: Support the continuous development of internal design guides and standard operating procedures.
  • Business Development Support: Assist leadership with technical inputs for business development and proposal efforts.

Qualifications & Expertise

To excel in this rigorous federal engineering environment, candidates must bring a strong blend of technical mastery, regulatory knowledge, and hands-on design experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: 4+ years of dedicated telecommunications design experience supporting complex, large-scale, or federal projects.
  • Core Standards Knowledge: Comprehensive familiarity with NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, and BICSI standards for ICT and telecommunication design.
  • Structured Cabling Expertise: Strong command of structured cabling principles, covering both copper and fiber optic media.
  • Infrastructure Design: Proven knowledge of Inside Plant (ISP) design: including telecom spaces, pathways, and cable management: as well as Outside Plant (OSP) design experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship: Mandatory U.S. citizenship to satisfy federal contract requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Audio-Visual (AV) Systems: Direct experience in Audio-Visual (AV) system design and integration within federal or corporate environments.
  • Advanced Certifications: While the RCDD is strictly required, holding a CTS-D (Certified Technology Specialist – Design) certification is considered a strong competitive advantage.

  • Comprehensive background check
  • Standard drug screening
  • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check
